What is lost wax bronze?
Lost wax bronze is a ancient way of turning a clay sculpture into a bronze statue that will last for centuries. A simple description is , We mold the piece, we cast wax into that mold , we take the wax casting and create wax channels or gating to the sculpture, then we dip the wax several times in ceramic shell material, then once the shell is dry we fire the ceramic shell, creating a ceramic mold of the wax. as it melts from the shell "lost wax" leaving a cavity that we replace with melted bronze, it cools and hardens and we remove the shell and gating, revealing a perfect bronze casting of the origional art. Ancient yes, but still the best way for perfect artwork that will last thousands of years .
